I hate to admit it, but I was reading InDesign magazine and deeply enjoying the discussion of OpenType font design, and felt the urge to go look at the cost of one of the nicer fonts they showcase.

Five fonts. $160.

Why did no one tell me I can't afford to be a graphic designer?

The wonderful thing about graphic design is that there's usually a free lookalike for most of the pricier fonts out there.

I remember when I was doing design work, we'd always look for a free/cheap alternative that didn't involve infringing on the font.
