08:15 am - [Redoubt] Annoyances

I just managed to damage and trash more than half of my sound effects and clips that I've been accumulating in my FX directory for several days, included my snips from Rejected. The annoyance that I feel could only be exceeded if my Lost Skeleton of Cadavara clips were damaged.

How did I manage this brilliant effort, you ask? I was trying to normalize the lot to the same sound volume. Of course, in the process, I managed to utterly blow several (read: a lot) of the WAV files right straight to fuck.

At least it happened in the relatively easy-to-replace directory and not somewhere I can't really replace stuff with lives. That would have been beyond painful. I can get Fatal Stitches to redo her "Squeeeeeeeed!" and other such bits easily enough, with improved technology and control, now.

I'm just annoyed that a tool decided to blow up so subtly, changing perfectly good WAVs into simple flat-line data. Its most entirely annoying.

Ah well. Live and learn, die and forget. Unless you're an Expert System. (And, yes, I am the Dixie Flatline.)

Anyway, the Redoubt will be down a good chunk of the day while I try and do some database verifications and clean-up. Kind of necessary, really. Annoying.
