04:11 am - [Misc] Time of Judgment, Thought

Damn it all, the opening story in Time of Judgment makes me want to play Demon: the Fallen. I've resisted buying DtF with my not-inconsiderable Will, but ... I'm tempted.

Bastards.

05:55 am - [Misc] You know, life is occasionally too tempting.

I just gave into evil. The Demon core book, the OOP Storyteller's Guide, Houses of the Fallen, and Earthbound ... and not from White Wolf, but from Amazon, because their prices are a whole Hell of a lot better and I could even pile on free shipping.

I feel dirty, but sated.

09:37 pm - [Gaming, Gamecube] Crystal Chronicles, you're the bomb.

And, in fact, I do mean that literally.

I've wandered my way through Year Two of the game, much to my great pleasure. And pretty much ended it by accident; I was just trying to earn enough money to get someone to forge me some Mythral Armour, and wandered into the next area that needed to be cleared out for my third drop of myrrh.for the mighty town of Hellsto. Of course, in the process I managed to coax one of the areas into dropping three Fire gems, which led to my unleashing of the mighty impressive Firaga spell fused in my pocket. Now, I've been tossing around Fire, and fairly frequently Fira (because getting two Fire at once isn't too hard). But Firaga has only been the result of lucky merges with my Moogle during boss attacks when I'm far too busy to notice the prettiness. Not in the ghost town of Tida. No, there I could convince the fungus to cough up an extra Fire if I dropped any I was carrying and just hammered on it with my weapon.

Fusing three Fire into Firaga later --- Jesus Christ! I charge the spell, release, and run --- and a huge fireball explodes at the point of release to swallow most of the screen!

Needless to say, for a destructive geek like myself, this is deeply boner-inducing. I was taking out enemies I couldn't even see, half-way off the screen. The sheer adrenaline pleasure oozing out of that area pleased me to no end. The boss at the end of the area posed very little trouble with me throwing around world-destroying death-blossoms as if they were going out of style tomorrow.

Of course, the next area had to totally reverse that. I think it dropped one of each spell, letting me put together a Gravity to take out the flying enemies but reducing me to actually walking up to drop my hammer on their heads to do anything like reasonable damage. Frightening prospect for a Black Mage, but there you go. And at the end, there was quite a bit of running around willy-nilly, as I was fighting valiantly against the gigas lord and his wife ... the bitch.

I have no idea why Crystal Chronicles has been getting lousy ratings in reviews. I love it.
