<b>Elvis Lives:</b> Well, OK, not Elvis <i>per se</i>, but <a href="http://www.chancel.org:8080/texts/Presley%20Aaron,%20Raven%20Shaman.html">Pressley Aaron, Raven Shaman Cop</a>, my ShadowRun character, is finally complete. I'd forgotten what an absolute stone bitch doing chargen is in SR. You literally have to go through the whole 300+ page book from front to back to complete a simple character. It borders on nightmarish, frankly -- there are no nice, near summaries or helpful tables. I'm rather annoyed by the process -- but I'm very proud of the results. I think its one of my better characters.

Now, the really amusing things to note here are the absolute lack of an @ sign anywhere. Back in '82, we didn't <i>have</i> that fancy Internet-address style yet. We had UUCP bang-paths, and we <i>liked</i> it, gawddammit. Note that the path goes through decvax, one of the most famous machines on the early UseNet. Note that Google converted the header from B-News. B-News! These days even C-News is getting long in the tooth -- B is positively Sumerian. The code's written in cuneiform. Finally, notice the most crucial point: the arts of flaming and trolling still haven't improved much in nearly twenty years.
